TickerBase is a free financial-data site. Reading it requires no account and no personal information. An account exists for one purpose — carrying your watchlists and portfolio between your devices — and this page describes exactly what that involves.

What we collect

If you never sign in: nothing that identifies you personally. Your settings, watchlists, portfolio, recent searches, chart templates and theme are stored in your own browser's local storage and are never transmitted to us.

If you sign in: your email address, and — where your sign-in provider supplies them — your display name and profile picture. Alongside that we store the content you chose to sync: your watchlists (list names and ticker symbols) and your portfolio positions (ticker, quantity, cost basis, dates). Nothing else about you is stored.

Analytics, for everyone: we use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and interactions (which pages are read, which episode links are followed, whether the valuation workbench sliders get used). This includes an approximate location derived from your IP address, plus your device and browser type. We do not run advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or share data for advertising.

No payments, no ads, no third-party trackers beyond analytics. The site takes no payment information because nothing on it is for sale.

Who processes it

Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore and Hosting) holds accounts and synced lists. Google Analytics receives the usage measurements described above. Cloudflare sits in front of the site as a CDN and sees ordinary request metadata. Two services handle content only, never account data: a Cloudflare Worker that fetches market quotes, and image proxies that render news thumbnails and company icons. If you sign in with Google or Apple, that provider handles the authentication itself and tells us only your email address and profile basics.

These providers are located in the United States and the European Union, so signing in means your account data is processed outside your own country. Nobody else receives it — we do not sell personal data, and we have never disclosed it to a third party for their own purposes.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account yourself, at any time: open the account menu (the avatar in the top-right of the site or app), choose Delete account, and confirm. This immediately and permanently removes your account and the copy of your watchlists and portfolio held on our servers. It cannot be undone. Lists saved locally in that browser stay on your own device until you clear them.

If you cannot reach the account menu — including if you no longer have the app installed — email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and ask for deletion. We action these within 30 days.

Signing out is not deletion: it disconnects syncing and leaves your account intact.

How long it is kept

Account data is kept until you delete it — there is no other expiry, because the data exists to be there when you come back. Deletion is immediate and is not held in a backup that we can restore from. Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for 14 months and is not linked to your account.

Your rights

You may request access to the data held against your account, correct it, or delete it. Deletion is available directly in the product, as above; for anything else write to [email protected]. If you are in the EEA or the UK, our basis for processing account data is the performance of the service you asked for, and for analytics our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is read; you may object to the latter by using your browser's Do Not Track or an analytics blocker, which we do not attempt to circumvent.

Children

TickerBase is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and it will be removed.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it and the new version is published here before it takes effect.
